1 ) Know your lingerie and plus size nightgowns. Design and sexual appeal of your lingerie is very important for the ladies. But as much as you’re giving importance to style, take also a look at the tag of your undergarment. Nope, we’re not talking about the price tag. It’s the tag that says the size and material you’re garment is made of. This essential information can help you a lot in deciding how to wash and store your underwear. Some tags even contain the washing instructions so it is advisable to pay attention to it. More importantly, do not rip it off.
2 ) Segregate. Separate lingerie and plus size nightgowns according to color and composition. This would help you determine how to wash them more effectively. Do not wash light colored underwear with the dark-colored ones, for they can pick up the dyes from darker fabrics. Also, man-made fabrics should be separated from the machine-made fabrics. Oils released from man-made fibers during washing may be absorbed by the machine-made ones and can cause spotting. Just to be safe, purchase a mesh bag or a lingerie bag to make your segregation easier.
3 ) Dry clean. Dry-cleaning may be costly but if you really value your plus size nightgowns and other delicates, do it. You can never be too sure with dry cleaning, plus you need not worry of discolored or ripped fabrics. Just make sure your dry cleaning service offers a warranty.
4 ) Hand wash. If dry-cleaning is not an option, the safest way is to hand-wash your underwear. Use mild detergent and cold water because hot or Luke-warm water may cause your fabric to expand. Also, if your plus size nightgowns are made of silk, make sure it’s pre-washed. Otherwise, you must have it dry cleaned.
5 ) Do not put lingerie in the dryer. It’s like murdering your underwear. To dry it, hang it and dry at low temperature. Do not wring it either, it’s not a towel!
6 ) If you’re going to wash it, hook it first together. This is to avoid tangling with other bras.
7 ) Do not hang it by the strap or garters. It can loosen or wear out the elasticity of the straps or garters. For brassiere, hang it by the space in between the cups. For the panties, hang it by lowest part of the fabric.
8 ) Do not fold the bra. Folding may wrinkle the foams of the cups which will look bad under a shirt. If you can’t help it, fold between the two cups following only one curve of one of the cups.
9 ) Do not roll panties, unless it’s necessary. If you’re packing for a trip and needs to save space, you may roll your panties. But if you have a choice, don’t roll panties because it may loosen the garters.
10 ) Never iron bras. Bras are not intended to be crisp so leave it alone.
