Lingerie for plus women is no different from underwear, only it is more fashionable and appealing to the eyes and it’s only for the ladies. It’s commonly made of nylon, satin, silk, and lace unlike underwear that’s usually made of cotton or Lycra fabric. The term lingerie came from the French word linge which literally means washables since these are the only pieces of clothing being washed during the 16th century while the outer garments were just stored.

Generally, lingerie for plus women serves as an undergarment but due to evolution in fashion, it can now be an outerwear, depending on the fabric, nowadays. And since it has become so visually attractive, it is also associated with sexual excitement.
Underwear and lingerie for plus women have the same origin. Even before Victoria’s Secret and Triumph, women have been using underwear, only, they’re for hygiene and modesty, and to shape women’s figures.
In the ancient times, both men and women used the loincloth to serve as undergarments. It resembles a shirt and long shorts that are worn mainly to absorb perspiration (for those who lived in warm climates) and to base an outerwear on (for those who lived in cold climates).
During the middle ages, loincloths were replaced by chemise and petticoats. The chemise was also worn by men. Women wore the chemise usually under a robe or their gowns. Petticoats, on the other hand, were strictly for women and were used to shape and stiffen their long skirts. It was also during these times the corsets, then called bodies, were worn to flatten the bust.
By the time cotton fabrics were widely manufactured, stays became popular for women. It’s being tightened at the back to form an hour-glass figure for the user, which normally lead them to the fainting room. Bustle and hoop skirts were also invented to give women a more protruding behind.
In the 20th century, underwear already became a highly profitable industry and so many designs and innovations sprung up. Corsets do not anymore include steels and whale bone; instead the more waist-friendly bodice was introduced. Under shirts were also modernized and transformed into the lacy camisoles. Drawers were used by women, as well as men, becoming the predecessor of the modern day panties.
Brassieres were introduced in 1913. It was made of just two handkerchiefs tied together, and from then on, it was widely marketed and openly accepted by women around the globe.
In the 50s and 60s, underwear has truly evolved. Push-up, strapless and wonder bras became part of every day living and bikini panties were suddenly the in thing. Colors and textures varied, allowing lingerie for plus women to be worn as an outerwear. With all the variations, alluring undergarments were introduced and it was widely accepted by women and openly appreciated by men.
Today, women still line up to get the latest and most appealing fashions for underneath their fashions there are. Some are really pricy and others are very creative. Lingerie for plus women has become so main stream that some pieces can double as a blouse and can even be worn solely. Who knows, maybe in the near future, lingerie for plus women can be worn on the red carpet too.
